Normaphone (Modern Reproduction, 2021)
Every so often I am called upon to make something uncommon or unusual, and this Normaphone is a fine example. Normaphones are still around and being played today but are not as ubiquitous as trumpets, trombones, or other low brass. This horn is based off designs from the 1920’s with inspiration from Richard Heber, the inventor of the Normaphone. I built this horn in 2021 on request from a client. The horn is made from a blend of preexisting and bespoke components that come together to form a really beautiful sounding instrument.
This horn is pitched in Bb and plays baritone/trombone range.
Bell: 7 1/2”
Bore: .560”
Adjustable neck
Small shank receiver
Finish is satin finish silver (with clear coat lacquer to mitigate polishing)
Not only is the horn custom, but the case is too! And it’s included with the horn! It’s got room enough for the horn, accessories, a horn stand, and it even has wheels.
In shop pick up or shipping available.
